Description:	ROMMEL erzählt von den vergeblichen Anstrengungen des Feldmarschalls, von Hitler Verstärkung für die Westfront zu erlangen, und von der allmählichen Einsicht in die Ausweglosigkeit der Lage nach der militärischen Niederlage in der Normandie. Von seinem Stabschef Speidel vorsichtig in die Pläne zum Sturz Hitlers eingeweiht, verhält Rommel sich abwartend, verrät aber die Verschwörer nicht. Konfrontiert mit Hitlers starrem Festhalten am Endsieg und den immer absurder werdenden militärischen Befehlen, ist Rommel, um weiteres Blutvergießen zu vermeiden, fest entschlossen, die Front auf eigene Verantwortung zu öffnen. Doch bevor es soweit kommt, wird er bei einem Fliegerangriff schwer verletzt ...
