Description:	September 1944. Die jüdische Familie Lerner und die ukrainische Familie Onufrienko sind seit 20 Jahren eng befreundet und wohnen zusammen in einem Haus am Rande Kiews. Während das deutsche Militär unter Führung von Oberst Blobel (Axel Milberg) die Deportation und Ermordung aller Juden von Kiew vorbereitet, versuchen die Lerners mit der Hilfe des Nachbarjungen Stepan (Gleb Porschnew) gemeinsam gen Osten zu flüchten. Lena Onufrienko (Katrin Saß) wittert ihre Chance.
