 | Description: | W by Planningtorock, released 25 June 2013, includes the following tracks: "Manifesto", "I Am Your Man", "Living It Out", "Machina" and more.
This version of W comes as a 1xCD. - Berlin-based artist Planning to rock will release her next album, W, this May on DFA Records. Planning to rock is the guise of Janine Rostron, an English artist who plays an odd blend of experimental pop and chamber music. She's probably best known for 2010's Tomorrow, in a Year, the electronic opera she co-produced with Mt. Sims and the Knife. Much like her Swedish contemporaries, Rostron's music comes with a very theatrical stage presence, complete with costumes, video projections and sometimes a custom-made helmet. W will be Rostron's first release on DFA, though she's been associated with the New York indie label since 2007, when James Murphy invited her to open for LCD Soundsystem on the Sound of Silver Tour. She produced the album over the last three years at her studio in Berlin, then mixed it in Sweden with Christoffer Berg, who also worked on Fever Ray's album. Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem contributed some drumming.Recorded in Berlin, New York, London and Akureyri Iceland.
Mastered at The Exchange London.
Imagery taken from the video "Doorway" directed by PlanningToRock.
Copyright 2011 Rostron Records/DFA Records.
Dedicated to Leif, Janet and Beulah Rostron.
With special thanks to James Murphy.
