Description:During 1957 jazz producer Norman Granz was fond of pairing the legendary drummer-less trio of Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, and Ray Brown, with several different stars from the Jazz at the Philharmonic concert series. Stan Getz and the Oscar Peterson Trio (Verve MGV-8251) was the fi rst quartet pairing of Getz and the pianist, both of whom had previously collaborated together on other Granz albums, such as Diz & Getz (also showcasing Dizzy Gillespie), and Jazz Giants â??58 (also featuring Harry â??Sweetsâ? Edison and Gerry Mulligan). Although they continued working together here and there, Getz and Peterson would never record another album in this format. Four tunes that complete the session but were not included on the original LP, plus two others from their previous date with Dizzy Gillespie have been added as a bonus. STAN GETZ, tenor sax OSCAR PETERSON, piano HERB ELLIS, guitar RAY BROWN, bass Los Angeles, October 10, 1957. - .. PETERSON TRIO
Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this classic Jazz album. Contains the complete original album Stan Getz And the Oscar Peterson Trio, widely regarded as one of the saxophonist's finest recordings. A bonus track by the same band with the addition of drummer Connie Kay is also included here. The ballad was taped during a concert that preceded the aforementioned studio session by only three days. Essential Jazz Classics. 2011.

Joseph C. - 16/Aug/2017 5 of 5 Stars!
Amazing session with the Oscar Peterson Trio, one of the powerhouse jazz rhythm sections. Of course Stan Getz is in top form on this session. This is a good one to start out with if you are just getting into jazz music. Love this LP!
