"Maiden England '88" is a live concert DVD by the legendary British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released by Parlophone Label Group (PLG). Captured during their 1988 "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" world tour at Birmingham's NEC Arena, this performance showcases Iron Maiden at the height of their creative and theatrical powers. The setlist features classic hits such as "The Trooper," "Wasted Years," and "Can I Play with Madness." The DVD offers fans an immersive experience into one of the band's most iconic tours, complete with elaborate stage designs and electrifying performances.
Parlophone Label Group (PLG) is renowned for its rich history in music production and distribution, representing some of the world's biggest artists across various genres. With decades of expertise, PLG has played a pivotal role in bringing groundbreaking albums to global audiences.
Iron Maiden consists of Bruce Dickinson (vocals), Steve Harris (bass), Dave Murray (guitar), Adrian Smith (guitar), Nicko McBrain (drums), and at that time also included guitarist Janick Gers. Each member boasts significant achievements: Bruce Dickinson is celebrated for his powerful vocals and solo career; Steve Harris is recognized as one of metal?s greatest bassists and songwriters; Dave Murray and Adrian Smith are acclaimed for their influential guitar work; Nicko McBrain?s drumming prowess has shaped Iron Maiden?s signature sound. The concert was directed by esteemed filmmaker Jim Yukich, known for his extensive work on music videos and live productions with major acts like Genesis, Phil Collins, and Fleetwood Mac. Together, these talents have contributed immensely to rock history through numerous platinum-selling albums such as ?The Number of the Beast,? ?Powerslave,? ?Somewhere in Time,? making this release essential viewing for any fan.
This is easily one of Iron Maiden's two best live albums ever. Most people would consider Live After Death to be their best recorded live show, but I would consider Maiden England to be even better. Both live recordings follow each of their best albums and offer material from each album, but the sound quality is clearly better in Maiden England.

Iron Maiden's live releases are great, but rating this DVD is higher than Live After Death is impossible. Joking of course! Really - this is a mega cool concert release.

This DVD contains part 3 of The History of Iron Maiden, started with The Early Years DVD. This third part, in my opinion, falls a little short compared with the also included 12 Wasted Years, in the sense that only lasts 40 minutes and probably could have more insight on this amazing period of the band. Comparing with the first two parts of "The History" it could have contained more insights from the crew members and fans. The Maiden England concert, flawless. Amazing production, amazing show. Another aspect that doesn't let it be a 5 stars DVD for me is the cover art. It is a great contemporary cover but a DVD size rendition of "motorcycle Eddie" would have been epic. 4/5 to me.
