Description: | 2008 four CD set from the highly talented alto saxophonist and friend and disciple of Charlie Parker. The collection compiles most of Maini's small group recordings recorded in L.A. and New York between 1956 and 1962. The Jane Fielding album and the Joe Maini Sextet session, as well as a Shorty Rogers TV Broadcast appear here for the first time ever on CD. Features his recordings with Shelly Manne, Jack Sheldon, Red Mitchell, Kenny Drew, Jimmy Knepper and others. Maini died at the age of 34, the victim of a game of Russian roulette, in 1964. 64 tracks.
