EU-only reissue of this long unavailable 1972 performance at the Porrhaus, in Vienna, Austria. Accompanied by local musicians, the legendary saxophonist displays his magic during a program of well-known standards. Webster, who spent his final years living in Europe, would die in Amsterdam on September 20, 1973. This concert has only previously appeared on a long out of print limited edition CD over two decades ago. It contains Webster's only known versions of Neil Hefti's 'After Supper' and 'Lil' Darlin', ' as well as his only other reading of Jimmy Hamilton's 'Big Shoe' outside of the original studio recording from the 1958 Side by Side LP. Includes 8-page booklet. Domino Records.
Recorded at Porrhaus Vienna, 4th of May 1972 (aka The Jazzland). 16 months after this recording (20th of September 1973) Ben Webster died in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
