Kahil El'Zabar is one of the leading exponents of today's AACM (Assoc. For the Advancement of Creative Musicians). The percussionist has recorded 8 Delmark CDs in the last few years with his Ritual Trio (DMK #466, 477), Ethnic Heritage Ensemble (#496, 517) and featuring Pharoah Sanders (#519), Archie Shepp (#514), Joseph Jarman (#507), and Billy Bang (#533). Here Kahil is in trio setting with two of the most exciting jazz musicians associated with the avant-garde. David Murray needs no introduction since he burst on the scene in the early '80s with his octet. Contains the very last recording of bassist Fred Hopkins who passed away before the album could be released. Contains 8 original compositions.
