| Description: | All Kinds Of Time by Karl & Dave Holland Berger, released 17 February 2011, includes the following tracks: "Fragments", "Now Is / D'Accord / All Kinds Of Time / We Are" and more.
This version of All Kinds Of Time comes as a 1xCD. - W/DAVE HOLLANDBerger & Holland were two of the first Europeans to find musical homes for themselves deep in American free jazz, and these improvised duets from 1976 show just how comfortable they were. Berger plays piano, vibraphone & balafon, while Holland plays bass. The compositions are tonal, and as the title insists, it's all about time. It's roots go deep, all the way to Africa, and the overlapping of rhythms suggest the minimalism of Reich, Riley & Glass. Berger's forte is rhythmic dialogue, and the subtle time shifts that are often a music's undercurrent are fore-grounded here.Originally released in 1976 [Sackville Recordings ?3010].
Recorded at Thunder Sound, Toronto, Canada, on April 26, 1976.
This CD is part of the Sackville Collection Series "The Creative Improvised Music Classics (1974-1980)", being recordings for the Sackville label made by Bill Smith in Toronto between 1974 and 1980 of "a newly emerging jazz avant-garde." "The music in the Sackville Collection is being released for the first time on CD in editions of 1000." (quote from back insert). |
