Ancient Swedish Pastral M is a compilation of folk tracks released as CD on 18 Mar 1996. - ...MUSIC -W/LUR, FLUTES, COW HORN, WILLOW FLUTE IN FARM

"Locklåtar och musik på horn och pipa = Ancient Swedish Pastoral Music" was the name of the LP issued by the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation in 1966. It consisted of recordings of herding calls, kulning (singing or calling in a vibrato-free high register), the lur (birch bark horn), "playing pipes", goat horn and willow flute; and was made in the farm pastures in the provinces of Dalarna and Härjedalen between 1949 and 1964. Here the same recordings are presented on CD. Contemporary performers of herding calls and songs and play on the horn are also represented - by Lena Willemark, plus a live recording made at Stångtjärn at the 1995 Falun Folk Music Festival where Pelle Jakobsson were among the contributors. This was a joint production between The Royal Swedish Academy of Music, The Swedish Broadcasting Corporation P2, The Swedish Centre for Folk Song and Folk Music Research (Svenskr visarkiv) & Caprice Records. Released with support from The Swedish National Council for Cultured Affairs.
