Liquid Spirit is the breakthrough album by Gregory Porter, arguably the most important jazz vocalist to emerge in the last 20 years. Originally released in September 2013, it is generally considered one of the greatest albums of the current jazz boom. It incorporated influences from classic soul, Râ??nâ??B and gospel, and also established Porter as a major modern songwriter, the natural heir to Bill Withers and Donny Hathaway. Liquid Spirt was a huge hit in the UK, peaking at #9 in the album charts and certified Platinum by the BPI in March 2016. It also won the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album and spawned six singles including the electrifying title track. -
