This version is a repress. According to internal cataloging from Sonopress, probably from 2001."SYMBOLIC", the CD by artist "Death" and produced by "Roadrunner," is a must-have for any fan of heavy metal. This album, released in 1995, showcases Death's unique blend of progressive and death metal. The band's leader, Chuck Schuldiner, was known as a pioneer of death metal and this album is considered one of his finest works. With its complex song structures and introspective lyrics, "SYMBOLIC" stands out as an example of how diverse and intricate heavy metal can be.
Roadrunner Records has been a leading name in the music industry since it was founded in 1980. Known for supporting some of the biggest names in rock and heavy metal such as Slipknot, Nickelback, and Killswitch Engage. | | No. of tracks: |

JOSE F. - 23/Feb/2025 Death metal at its best. Wonderful sound and energy coming out of it. 10/10.
| | Yuriy P. - 13/Apr/2024 Writing about DEATH is always especially interesting because this band has no weak albums. Having become the founders of death-metal on Scream Bloody Gore, by 1998 Schuldiner and his team had reached unprecedented heights. Human, Individual Thought Patterns, Symbolic, The Sound Of Perseverance - all these are masterpieces, the importance of which in heavy music cannot be overestimated. These albums are so different and at the same time recognizable, in the same spirit. Symbolic is Chuck's most beloved creation by listeners. Dense sound combined with melody and measured rhythm, incredibly complex riffs are combined into absolutely holistic, memorable compositions. But the album's main asset is its musicality and expressiveness, which is what makes the music most interesting and what is most often forgotten. 9 tracks of the most complex instrumental can be listened to in one breath. The sophisticated material does not tire you at all; on the contrary: with each new listen, this complexity seems more and more refined. The instrumentalists really showed how music should be made: all the material was honed and brought to perfection. Since Human, the band's sound has undergone some changes: from incredibly dense but dry, it has become more sonorous and expressive every year. The sound quality of Symbolic is second only to The Sound Of Perseverance. Actually, Death's latest album surpasses Symbolic not only in recording quality. On The Sound Of Perseverance, Chuck opened up completely. But not every listener will be able to understand and appreciate the material on this album because of its richness. Symbolic is much easier to perceive and this is its advantage. Is it worth talking about the style of the album? Death is one of the few bands that has risen high above all styles, directions and other boundaries that do not allow a real musician to realize himself 100%. The saddest thing is that after Death, Cynic and Atheist no one tried to play such complex music...
Symbolic, like The Sound Of Perseverance, is the best that heavy music has ever produced.
| | Azmi H. - 27/Aug/2022 Surprisingly progressive, superbly catchy, and adherently groovy, "Symbolic" (which was originally released in 1995, and re-released with four demo tracks in 2008) is a very rare find in death metal because it is a positively air-guitar-able album.
| | Vladislav M. - 23/Nov/2019 Favorite album in the Deaths collection.
Impeccable songwriting and instrumental performance.
Lyrical tunes, but with a metal drive. Intelligent texts, but with uncompromising honesty. Just a brilliant album without weak songs.
| | Luck T. - 06/Nov/2019 I love this album. This is one of the best Death Metal CDs. Chuck Schuldiner delivered great performance. Amazing album. Highly recommended.
| | Marco M. - 05/Sep/2019 What if a genious crosses high philosophical thoughts with heavy music? well, it can happen that a new genre come out if this genious is called Chuck Schuldiner. A fine balanced masterpiece between technique and heavy feelings. History.
| | Zlatko D. - 21/Jun/2019 A classic album, essential. Maybe the best Death album. Symbolic is one of those once-in-a-generation metal albums that just gets everything right. Perfect.
| | Vladimir M. - 24/Jul/2018 Symbolic is excellent death metal album and another masterpiece from Chuck Schuldiner (RIP). In my opinion, Death has no weak album and this one is also excellent so my suggestion is to buy it.
