| Description: | Moonsongs by Ikue Mori, released 22 February 2000, includes the following tracks: "Monkey Music Moon", "How Noisy The Sound Of Insects Calling In The Meadow, As For Me, I Make No Sound But Think Of Love", "Cloth-Beating Moon", "Joganden Shooting Moon" and more.
This version of Moonsongs comes as a 1xCD. - A one act opera based on an ancient Noh play and scored for Celtic harp, hurdy, guitar and traditional Japanese instrments, this is Ayuo's masterpiece. This piece was inspired by "One Hundred Aspects Of The Moon", a series of woodblock prints by the last master of Japanese Ukiyoe, Yoshitoshi. Fifteen of his one hundred scenes were excerpted in various ways to bring out different aspects of the images. Although each piece has its own musical style, they are all connected to create a world whose energy is released by the same kind of culture clash that made Yoshitoshi's work so distinctive.
