New Morning grew partly out of an exploration of the possibility of Dylans writing music for a play by the great poet Archibald MacLeish. The project never ended up working out, but a few of the songs survived, and created the foundation for an album. New Morning expands on the laid-back countryrock of John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline by adding a more pronounced rock & roll edge. The album is filled out with love songs, pop songs, pastorales like "Winterlude" (a waltz) as well as the funny, deadpan "If Dogs Run Free," making New Morning a charming, endearing record.
"New Morning" is a classic album by the legendary American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released in 1970 and now available on CD from Col. This record marked a return to more optimistic themes after the introspective "Self Portrait," featuring tracks like "If Not for You," "Day of the Locusts," and the title song "New Morning." The album blends folk, rock, and country influences with Dylan's signature poetic lyrics and distinctive voice. It was well received by critics and fans alike for its warmth, wit, and musical diversity.

Great album. Also if you’re new to Dylan this maybe is not the best place to start as the length of some of the songs and the lack of catchy melodies may put some people off but I would still put in my top 5 Dylan Albums. Highly recommended
