This version of Light Upon Light comes as a 1xCD. - Trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, improviser and theoretican, Wadada Leo Smith is one of the most improtant composers of our time. An original member of Chicago's AACM, his excitiing pieces blending composition and improvisation have been performed by many of the world's most important ensembles and soloists. Featuring an exotic composition for chamer ensemble and gamelan quartet, a beautiful solo piece for viola, a bass contions, Wadada considers Light Upon Light his best recording to date.Track 1 subtitled as Music For Ensemble And Tape.
Dedicated to Stephen L. Mosko.
Track 1 includes a Pre-Recorded Gamelan Quartet.
Track 1 was commissioned by Meet the Composer/Reader's Digest Commissioning Program in partnership with National Endowment for the Arts and the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund for the California E.A.R. Unit, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and New York New Music Ensemble.
