Description:Common Stone is an album by Bob Davenport, released in 2004. The album is a folk CD. - FT. RICHARD & LINDA THOMPSON/MARTIN CARTHY/WATERSONS/AO
Bob Davenport, one of the early pioneers of the English folk revival of the 1960s, was renowned on both sides of the Atlantic for his uncompromisingly gritty talent which produced raw nuggets of political and poetic realism. He was never one to court fashion, and his unique vision had a profound influence on a generation of such disparate artists as Richard Thompson and Ray Davies of the Kinks. When word got out that Topic was recording a new Davenport album, a line formed from the cream of the current folk scene who where jumping at the chance to paticipate and pay their respects. The final cut includes guitar instrumental endpieces by Richard Thompson, and vocal contributions from Linda Thompson among many others.
