..led Zeppelin |
 | Description: | Itâ??s almost 50 years since Led Zeppelin exploded onto the music scene and changed the landscape forever. Their music was a blend of all that was great and exciting that had come before them and this set covers the whole spectrum from blues to country to rock â??nâ?? roll and r & b.
Their first record essentially mapped out what was to be the rest of their career with great blues inflected songs such as "How Many More Times" that found its inspiration in Howlinâ?? Wolfâ??s work, hard rocking numbers such as "Communication Breakdown" that owed a debt to rock â??nâ?? roll legend Eddie Cochranâ??s "Nervous Breakdown" and power-folk.
As the bandâ??s popularity rose and rose they came back to their blues and rock â??nâ?? roll influences time and again utilising the work of legends such as Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Blind Willie Johnson, Sleepy John Estes, Memphis Minnie and many more, always taking the old forms and moving them on.
This set is put together chronologically so that you not only hear how the individual genres progressed but you also hear how they all cross-pollinated on their way to becoming the rock sound of the sixties, so this set is not only essential to fans of Led Zeppelin and roots music but also to those who are interested in the development of modern music as a whole.
Also included is the DVD Talkinâ?? Led Zeppelin which talks about the band and its roots and contains interviews with Charles Shaar Murray, Nigel Williamson, Sid Griffin and the curator of Sun Studios in Memphis as well as Delta historian Robert Birdsong. - ..LED ZEPPELIN | | No. of tracks: |
