Description:Released in the summer of 1968 on Monitor Records, Peak Impressions is a trip. These 10 original songs composed by the Boston-based teen band, the Freeborne, showcase the psychedelic sounds iconic of the late 1960s. Farfisa organ, electric piano, distorted electric guitar, affected vocals, and mystical lyricism lay the foundation for Peak Impressions. Trumpets, flutes, recorders, cello, harpsichord, and "primitive sampling" make the record a stimulating and unpredictable listen. This album, the band's only release, is a great companion to another Smithsonian Folkways recording, Timothy Leary's The Psychedelic Experience.
Packaging: cardboard gate-fold cover, thin spine, wrap-around sticker as cover art on stock Smithsonian Folkways printed cover. No inserts or booklet. CDr with Monitor logo. (from inside liner notes): "This CD is a custom-made copy from our collection. Every effort has been made to preserve its historical and aural integrity. The original liner notes are included as a PDF file on the disc or are available online at www.folkways.si.edu."
