Widely held to be Deep Purple's central, classic album, it's true that Machine Head is a tour de force. Less experimental than In Rock, more focused than Fireball, it was hard rock at its best. It had everything: pounding drums, power chords and piercing guitar solos, organ solos, insistent, intriguing bass, screaming but musical vocals.

DEEP PURPLE's best album is considered to be "In Rock". In general, this is probably correct, because, based on the revolutionary criterion, it is very difficult to find a worthy competitor to this album. But, being revolutionary, in fact, in my opinion, it is not the pinnacle of the group's creativity. I think that “Machine Head” is more suitable for the definition of “the pinnacle of creativity”. On the one hand, it has all the advantages of the 1970 album, but in addition it surpasses it in the quality of playing and recording. The compositions and playing of the instruments are more elaborate. Everything is played cleanly, just perfect! Brilliant guitar, brilliant keyboards, brilliant drummer, brilliant bass, and, of course, brilliant and simply inimitable vocals! Everything is very virtuoso, fresh and energetic, but at the same time there is no some wildness and recklessness, which distinguishes "In Rock". No, of course, wildness and recklessness are also here (as needed), but they have given way to such qualities as maturity, thoughtfulness and an extremely high level of play. The content of the album is very diverse, there are very heavy ones, but (unlike “In Rock”) there are also relatively light compositions. Apparently by that time they considered the severity, to some extent, a passed stage. However, there are very heavy things here, as if not Dipp Purple's best. Of particular note is "Spase Truckin'" - probably the biggest love of thrashers of the future! The album's opener, "Highway Star" is just crazy in a good way and melodic, very long for a song of this speed with two long amazing solos and four verses (!), but (surprisingly) not a bit boring. Well, I don’t talk about “Smoke On The Water” at all… This song is already an album! Somehow it is considered to be the best in heavy metal combined. Well, or, at least, a kind of HMR anthem. Also, I can't help but mention the very original composition "Lezy", which, I would say, is an instrumental with vocals. It is difficult for the current listener, brought up on a more modern sound of guitars, to experience what the contemporaries of this album experienced (such guys as James Hetfield, Bruce Dickinson and all the rest of the progressive humanity of the early 70s), but I believe that if a person has at least a drop of real taste, then this ingenious album cannot but hook him, because real masterpieces exist outside of time and space.

I will not say anything new .. classic rock music, melodic hard album. Edition without bonus tracks, as source. Sounds good!

Undoubtedly, the top creativity Deep Purple "classic" period (to which I refer to the albums start with In Rock and ending with Who Do We Think We Are) is the album Machine Head. The album consists entirely of memorable things, you can listen to it over and over again, and it does not bother. Of course, it should be noted that Highway Star, Lazy, Space Truckin 'groups, which later became business cards, and the unforgettable anthem of hard rock Smoke On The Water. In addition, personally, I really like the song Of Of Home, I don’t even know that it touches me so much, but this is one of my favorite Deep Purple songs in general. But this does not mean that the rest of the songs on the album are weak, not at all! Just for each of them you need to write a separate review. Conclusion - everyone who considers himself a rocker must hear this. Classic, comrades!

Absolute classic album of Deep Purple. This is where appears their most famous, and a rock'n roll hymn, Smoke on the Water, as well other great songs, as heghway Star and Space Truckin. Mandatory item.
