"The Spirit of the Beehive" is a landmark 1973 Spanish film directed by Víctor Erice, now available in this high-quality DVD edition from Criterion. Set in post-civil war Spain, the story follows young Ana as she becomes fascinated with Frankenstein?s monster after watching a traveling cinema show. The film is celebrated for its poetic imagery and subtle exploration of childhood innocence amid political repression.
