Description: | Sitarist Bimal is a disciple of Abid Hussain Binkar, the foremost exponent of the Jalpur Seniya style, which is a dhrupad & khyal-based style which Bimal modified in response to modern trends in sitar, adding touches of contemporary masters Vilayat Khan & Nikhil Banerjee in both sitar tone & playing style. Bimal plays the majestic raga Darbari Kanada, as well as the virtuostic raga "Suha Kanada" & the romantic raga "Sindhu Bhairavi". He's joined by A.G. Bandopadhyay on tabla.Recorded January 26, 1991.
