Description:27 tracks from this rarely-heard Western Swinger! Leon's Lone Star Cowboys were perhaps the jazziest of all the Western Swing bands, trading fiddle and clarinet leads, and Leon himself-as the two rare, early-'30s tracks included here show-was something of a Jimmie Rodgers devotee. Also here are Leon's landmark, 1933 recordings of Deep Elm Blues and Just Because with the Shelton Brothers hot!
Original 78 RPM recordings provided by Eugene Earle, Cary Ginell, Frank Mare, and Ken Swerilas. Photographs and memorabilia courtesy Mary Attlesey, Lyda Salmon Chappelear, Cary Ginell, Mary Elizabeth Hall, Mr. & Mrs. Slim Harbert, Donald Lee Nelson, and Gene Sullivan.
