Description:	Nachdem ein unerkannt gebliebener Partisan einen Anschlag auf einen Munitionszug der Deutschen verübt hat, lässt Hauptmann Langenau (Peter van Eyck) 30 Geiseln aus einem bosnischen Dorf zusammentreiben. Er stellt den Bewohnern ein Ultimatum: Wenn sie bis 16 Uhr den wahren Täter benennen, lässt er die Männer frei. Ehefrauen, Mütter und Honoratioren des Ortes stehen vor einer schweren Aufgabe.
