The disc includes the last extant work by Bach in the genre: Lobe den Herrn, meine Seele, BWV 69. The series of cantatas was initiated in 1995, as a collaboration between the Japanese musicians and the Swedish label BIS Records, and has in the intervening years become one of the most highly respected recording projects around. The collaboration between BCJ and BIS has also included numerous other recordings, by Bach and other composers, and will continue with further Bach projects, such as secular cantatas, masses and concertos, but also with an eye to later repertoire.Cantatas 55 · Leipzig 1730s?40s
