Rob's 9th CD for Reservoir Music heralds the pianist's return to the New York jazz scene after a six year hiatus, during which he obtained a Ph.D in mathematics at the Univ. Of California, Berkeley. Losing none of his musical skills in the interim, he digs into an exciting program of nine standards and jazz classics. He is accompanied by Boris Kozlov, a bassist with a glorious tone and impeccable swing, and Johnathan Blake, an up and coming young drummer. Included here are uptempo burners, funky grooves, walking ballads and more.
