Description:Doudou Gouirand started seriously in Jazz Music when Don CHERRY (The great US trumpet player and composer, himself influenced by Ornette COLEMAN) gave him the opportunity to study and work with him. At his contact, he developed his interest for (And knowledge of) traditional Indian, African and world music in general He also went further in the universe of improvised music. By the end of the Seventies, Doudou returned to France, working for a period of time with the famous Okay TEMIZ'S ORIENTAL WIND. He then started to compose and to record regularly. After three albums featuring several members of Chris McGREGOR'S BROTHERHOOD OF BREATH (Mainly African bass player Johnny DYANI), he recorded in 1986 the majestic "Forgotten Tales" featuring his old friend Don CHERRY who has been one of the first to recognize his originality and sensibility. The long piece "World Music Suite" gather Don's main musical traditions: gospel on the John COLTRANE's "Welcome" inspired introduction, orient with.
Recorded at Studio Sofreson, Paris, May 1985. The LP edition credits Joël Allouche with percussion on 'World Music Suite', but he is not credited here.
