Description:Eugene Delacroix (1798-1863) is credited with bridging the gap between the painterly traditions of the old Masters and the new-wave artists of the French Romantic movement. His artistic inspiration came chiefly from historical and contemporary events or from literature. His subjects ranged from sumptuous bouquets of flowers to saints, warriors and mythical goddesses, to Arab hunting scenes with ferocious tigers.
