After TEMPANO and Rigel MICHELENA, Venezuela keeps on offering US true unknown Progressive rock treasures... Today the chosen one is Ficcion and it's "Sobre El Abismo". This jewel was released in the Eighties (In 1986, so ten years after the band lined-up), when times for this kind of music were hard. Keyboardist Ignacio LARES, drummer Jaime HERNANDEZ and bassist-singer Luis CONTRERAS are certainly fans of CAMEL and GENESIS, as SAGRADO is certainly not a stranger for them... These three guys (And two guests) use cleverly their mother tongue in compositions doing credit to South-American subtlety. They inevitably evoke the TEMPANO's first works (The excellent "Atabal-Yemal", recorded in 1979) thanks to this clever mix between fusion jazz-rock and ethereal symphonism. To lengthen the comparison, two recent tracks (2001) were added... As a prelude to a future album of unreleased compositions ? the recent experimentations has proven that we can wait on noticeable surprises...
