Description: | Sitarist Netai is a disciple of Mushtaq Ali Khan, one of the foremost exponents of the Seniya sitar tradition, with a sitar tone reminiscent of the rudra bin & dhrupad-based playing style emphasizing raga architecture played with a spare elegance. Netai plays the late night raga "Malkauns" & the early morning raga "Bhairavi," with the conceptual clarity, discipled progression & meticulous execution that are the hallmarks of the Seniya style. He's joined by Samir Chatterjee on tabla.Recorded December 9, 1989.
