Description:Their Second Album, Sometimes Known As Five Languages (For The Five Translations Of Their Name On The Cover), Or Simply The Celibate Rifles, A Grab Bag Of Sounds And Influences Here; The Most Diverse Rifles Album To This Day, From The Ultra-Brash Kiss Me Deadly, To The Alt-Country Of Wild Desire, And Art-Attack Spoken-Word Double Of Thank You America And Darlinghurst Confidential, This Album Displays A Young Band Already Confident In Their Songwriting And Diversity. -
If nothing else, The Celibate Rifles' eponymously-titled second album makes it quite plain that it is no longer possible to dismiss this Sydney group as mere three chord thrasharama. But more than that, the fact is that this is a bloody good album, wherein the Rifles move away from the restrictions of their roots, palpably growing before your very eyes, and that's not a compliment I use lightly. Hot Records. 2005.
This CD is housed in a jewel case with a folding 4-page booklet. The catalogue number 'Hot 1007' is printed on the spines and tray artwork, while the cat# variation 'HOT 1007' is printed on the disc and inside the booklet. On the disc artwork: P&C 1984 Beyond The Sea/The Celibate Rifles. This reissue CD was released in Australia on January 16th 1995 (The ARIA Report Issue #257). The artwork for this reissue is largely a facsimile of the original 1984 '[r=2700449]' LP and insert, so the CD artwork includes the original mastering reference, "Mastered at 301 by Don Bartley". Please note that the audio found on this 1995 reissue CD is the same remastering done by [a875094] and [a663227] for the October 1992 CD reissue of '[r=4128006]'. "Made in England". The tray artwork also includes addresses and contact info for both Hot Records in NSW, Australia and Sussex, UK, which indicates that this 1995 release was marketed in both Australia and the U.K. Recorded at Honeyfarm Studios November 1983 & January 1984.
