| Description: | Landmark by Apollo Ghosts, released 7 August 2015.
This version of Landmark comes as a 1xCD in a(n) Digipak packaging. - Apollo Ghosts leave a mighty legacy with this final album of tuneful garage pop, (Vancouver) island nostalgia, and minute and half long celebratory bangers. Evoking Modern Lovers, Guided By Voices, and the Pacific Northwest's K Records wide-open approach to 'punk', Landmark is the most personal and domestic album in a rich discography of regional singles and self released LPs. The songs can be noisy and anthemic (Guitar Brother), stomping and hilarious (Days of Glory), shocking and darkly beautiful (So Much Better When Your Gone), or brief and rammed full with hooks (What Are Your Influences?, American Joint, Landmark, Weekend Fantasy, so many others) but all deserve to be remembered. Recorded in the band's Vancouver practice space when the neighboring metal bands could be bribed to grudging silence with gifts of 6 packs, Landmark, inspired by tiny spaces and islands at night, memory and renewal, is a wonderful testament to ongoing creativity, early to mid adult life, and getting things done with your friends. |
