Description: | Import only live recording from the great composer widely known for the film score for LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and DEAD POETS SOCIETY. Father of the famed electronic composer Jean Michel Jarre.2011 [l81208] compilation/reissue, with tracks 1-9, which were originally released by them on CD in 1996 (74321-43357-2), containing a live concert recording from 1996; and tracks 10-13 containing the commercially unreleased "Sunchaser Suite" (also from 1996!).
The Sunchaser Suite was intended to be commercially released by [l81208] that same year, because it was assigned a catalog number by them (38998-2), but was cancelled for unknown reasons prior to release. A limited run of CD's were pressed prior to the cancellation, and some were distributed in a cardboard sleeve (without finished packaging!) as a special radio promotional item, and the rest were reportedly destroyed. It is unknown how many of these original copies still exist, but their value was diminished by this particular release, which features the exact same material and sequence on tracks 10-13, most likely prepared by [a283111] himself for the cancelled album. (The information cited above was obtained from the Film Score Monthly Price Guide: U.S. Soundtracks on CD [Second Edition] by Robert L. Smith, and is mentioned here as per [g1.1.2.])
Enregistré au Royal Festival Hall le 16 octobre 1996 (Tracks 1-9).
Sunchaser Suite: Musique composée par [a283111] et interprétée par le Studio Orchestra dirigé par [a283111] (Tracks 10-13).
Packaging includes an eight-page booklet, mostly in French.
The complete title is given on the booklet cover, rear inlay card and CD label, but is shortened to "The London Concert at the Royal Festival Hall / Sunchaser Suite" on the inlay card spine -- the more complete version is included in the Title section as per [g3.1.3.]
The French word for unreleased ("Inedit") is given in its masculine form in the liner notes, but in its feminine form on the booklet cover, rear inlay card and CD label -- since the latter is used more frequently (and is grammatically correct as part of the title, at least!), it has been used for the Title section as per [g1.7.5.] & [g3.1.3.]
The French word for excerpt ("Extrait") is given |
