Description:Third World by Gato Barbieri, released 30 January 2014, includes the following tracks: "Antonio Das Mortas" and more. This version of Third World comes as a 1xCD. -
2014 reissue of the saxophonists' 1969 debut solo album released on Bob Thiele's Flying Dutchman label. Session musicians include Liberation Orchestra members Charlie Haden & Roswell Rudd, plus pianist Lonnie Liston Smith. It was a brash statement where free jazz and Latin rhythms collide and is a breathtaking demonstration of a style that made him one of jazz's great players of the 1970s. With his later classic 1976 Caliente album Barbiere's career soared to new heights.
Recorded November 24th and 25th, 1969. "The Argentine saxophone master's ferocious Flying Dutchman debut. Backed by an all-star line-up including Charlie Haden, Lonnie Liston Smith and Roswell Rudd, this is a minor classic of free jazz." Made in the EU
