Yuriy P. - 03/Jan/2019 It seemed that in the 90s the metal mainstream went into hibernation, and some events took place only in the underground. Popularity was conquered by the slovenly dressed guys from Detroit with overloaded guitars. And in this realm of gloom and depression there was one young group that did not want to play hard and hard, and her name was Pantera.
The audience admired the rage and weight of their previous full-length "Vulgar Display of Power", and the expectations were very, very high. The musicians themselves were striving for one thing - to make the album heavier than its predecessor. And they did it! The guitar system has become even lower and meaner, sometimes it even seems that the strings just hang on the neck. The rhythms are still as accurate, but more intense and evil, like devils in hell. And the voice of Phil Anselmo just exudes hatred, and at the same time is the art of singing with a hoarse roar.
Suppose there is no song like crazy "Fucking Hostile", but "Strength Beyond Strength" is fast and clear. The slow "panther" riff is no longer a revelation after the "Walk", but "5 Minutes Alone" and "I'm Broken" are quite capable of competing with this classic. And if you listen to obscure hits like "Shedding Skin", then you can find many original finds.
At the beginning, it was planned to place a drill in the bottom of some poor fellow, but this turned out to be too much for salespeople, and therefore this plate will be recognized by the blue skull with the same drill.
"Far Beyond Driven" is so heavy and extreme that at some moments it becomes just anti-musical, and you simply wonder, thinking of the courage of the musicians who once again did not follow the trend of the commercial trend and the producers, recording such tough material. And they were rewarded with an incredible achievement for such music - "FBD" climbed to the first line of the famous Billboard sales charts. And he still remains the hardest album ever to have been in this position, and I just don’t see who can surpass this Pantera success.
| | Aitor T. - 18/May/2014 Edición 20 aniversario fabulosa, presentación muy cuidada y disco extra con su actuación en Donington aquel año. Muy por encima de la mayoría de las re-ediciones que no aportan gran cosa.
