Miwi La Lupa's 2014 album is a snapshot of a relationship gone wrong. The songs take place on barstools and city stoops. Guests include Bill Frisell, Conor Oberst and Timothy Allen. The range of songwriter in the album leaps from ballads that invoke Ron Sexsmith and Stuart Murdoch, to stompers that reach back to Howlin' Wolf for their inspiration. Though MiWi is known worldwide for his role as trumpeter in the band Red Baraat, his fans will be pleasantly surprised by the songwriter that's been hiding behind the brass. This is an album that everyone can relate to.
