Chris Erickson is the name of a young French artist, whose first album should quickly have him talked about. From the first notes of "Sleepin' with U" (2004), the audience is carried away in a parallel world. Fully instrumental, this music is to be sipped as a venture film in which the images would be suggested to our minds. It's not by chance that we are frequently reminded of VANGELIS' works for "Blade Runner" or Alan SILVESTRI's for "Abyss". The artist makes a clever use of his keyboards, so as to obtain deep and bewitching sounds. Some sequences owe a lot to classical music, some others remind of the best orchestral achievements of trip-hop (MASSIVE ATTACK, BJÖRK...). The whole amazingly carries a strong personality. This eventually produces an unique piece of work which deserves to be well-placed in the Hall of Fame of modern electronic music. Not to be missed !
