 | Description: | UK collection of rare and classic Brazilian recordings. The centerpiece of the Brazilian Scene is Ze Maria's much sought-after LP, TODO AZUL. The organist is a darker version of Walter Wanderley with an eerie, reverberated sound. The set is at least a stylish mix of jazz samba and bossa standards from the songbooks of Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes and Carlos Lyra, but the mystique surrounding the album must surely be attributed to the presence of seventeen-year-old Jorge Ben Caetano Veloso affirmed that 'Jorge Ben was not only the first great black composer since bossa nova, but more importantly, he was also the first to make his blackness a stylistic determinant.' Brazilian Scene also includes early recordings by another prominent Tropicalist, Gilberto Gil, songs from a fascinating 4 track EP originally released on JS records of Bahia. Gil defies easy classification. Over a long career, he has remained faithful to the musical diversity that was central to the creative principles of Tropicalia, that would be labeled 'cultural cannibalism'; samba, frevo, Jovem Guarda, choro, bolero, Anglo-American pop and rock an d avant-garde art music., Bass: Gabriel Bahlis, Conductor: Leopold Stokowski, Drums: Juquinha, Flute: Herbie Mann, Flute: Marty Ruderman, Guitar: Baden Powell, Guitar: Laurindo Almeida, Guitar: Luiz Bonfá, Organ, Piano, Vocals: Zé Maria, Piano, Vocals: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vocals, Guitar: Gilberto Gil, Vocals, Guitar: Jorge Ben, Written-By: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Written-By: Newton Mendonça, Written-By: Baden Powell, Written-By: Vinicius De Moraes, Written-By: Alcyr Pires Vermelho, Written-By: Joăo De Barro, Written-By: Jorge Ben, Written-By: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Written-By: Orlann Divo, Written-By: Roberto Jorge, Written-By: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Written-By: Vinicius De Moraes, Written-By: Zé Maria, Written-By: Jorge Ben, Written-By: Carlos Lyra, Written-By: Amaury Tristao, Written-By: Orlann Divo, Written-By: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Written-By: Vinicius De Moraes, Written-By: Esther Delamare, Written-By: Joăo Mello, Written-By: Gilberto Gil, Written-By: Gilberto Gil, Written-By: Gilberto Gil, Written-By: Gilberto Gil, Written-By: Djalma Ferreira, Written-By: Luiz Antônio, Written-By: Radamés Gnattali, Written-By: Radamés Gnattali, Written-By: Radamés Gnattali, Written-By: Heitor Villa-Lobos, Written-By: Heitor Villa-Lobos, Labelcode IMT1151660.2 (ACMEM267CD, ACMEM267CD), Copyright (c) Cherry Red Records Ltd., Published By MCA Music, Published By Copyright Control, Published By Tro Essex Music, Published By Latin American Music, Published By Memory Lane Music (2), Published By Essex Music, Published By G.
