2014 release from the Icelandic outfit. Combining disparate elements of electronics (Doddi), clarinet (Aslaug Run Magnusdottir) and Jofridur Akadottir's hauntingvoice, Samaris mix glacial Electronica and bold, percussive beats withhaunting chant-like vocals - the lyrics culled from 19th centuryIcelandic poems. The effect is simultaneously ancient andmodern - an ethereal sound filled with dark spaces and alien atmosphere. The UK release last year of the groups' two Icelandic EPs as the eponymousSamaris sparked widespread interest, Dazed & Confused proffering an EinarOrn sponsored feature while glowing reviews appeared everywhere from theNME to the Financial Times.
