In der letzten Folge kehrt Pfarrer Braun zurück in sein geliebtes bayerisches Heimatdorf, doch der Anlass ist ein trauriger: Die Chefvisite steht an, der Schwerkranke soll sich auf seine letzte Reise vorbereiten. Braun nutzt die ihm verbleibende Zeit, um noch einmal zu kriminalisieren. Mit göttlicher Eingebung und der Hilfe des unersetzlichen Kommissars Geiger ermittelt er seinen schwersten Fall, der ihn bis nach Rom in den Vatikan führt.
