Description:Released on October 25, 1946, THE STRANGE WOMAN follows beautiful Jenny Hager (Hedy Lamarr) as she grows up to become an equally heartless and manipulative young woman, finding she can always get what she wants from the men in the 1820's port of Bangor, Maine. Freed from the death of her drunken father, she soon improves her situation by maneuvering herself into a position to marry a local, middle-aged and wealthy businessman. Though she often uses his money to do good, she continues to consider all other men fair game. Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian actress during the Hollywood Golden Age generally cast as the glamorous seductress due to her dark exotic look. She was also a co-inventor of an early technique of today's wireless communication which became vital to national defense during this time.
