| Description: | Three Classic Albums Plus by Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington & Oscar Peterson, released 21 August 2014.
This version of Three Classic Albums Plus comes as a 2xCD. - TOGETHER/GREAT REUNION/MEETS OSCAR PETERSONJune 24 street date. AVID Jazz presents three classic Louis Armstrong albums plus, including original LP liner notes on a finely re-mastered and low priced double CD. "Recording Together For The First Time"; "The Great Reunion"; Louis Armstrong Meets Oscar Peterson" plus Out Takes. The opening paragraph from the original liner notes of our first selection tells us all we need to know about our first two releases in this, yet another fine Louis Armstrong release form Avid! "Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington are the two greatest artists jazz has produced. They have affected the whole course of jazz for more than three decades, and they have, in their different ways been it's primary source of inspiration. Without their enlivening talents, it is hard to imagine that a music of such humble origins could have spread throughout the world and flourish in the face of opposition and intense competition!" Enough said we think, all you have to do now is sit back and listen and enjoy! For "Louis Armstrong Meets Oscar Peterson" Louis gets to play and sing with the famed Oscar Peterson Trio, Herb Ellis on guitar, Ray Brown on bass and joining them for this set, Louis Bellson on drums. To quote again from the original liner notes "all the songs in this are from 15 to 30 years old; all have been used extensively by jazzmen, though in several instances Louis had never before recorded them".. and .. "hearing Louis in the unfilled, ungimmicked setting of the Oscar Peterson rhythm section will be a treat for those who have often seen him in person and wished for fewer encumbrances."Total playing time:
