Santana´s tenth studio album Marathon marked the beginning of the group's commercial slide. The single "You Know That I Love You" reached no.35 on the Billboard Hot 100. It consisting entirely of band-written music. The music direction got many influences from the melodic rock, which gained more popularity by the end of the `70s. With some incredible guitar solos by the master Carlos Santana himself and Alex Ligertwood´s fine vocals it´s another versatile piece from the band. The Marathon package includes an insert.
Santana gained public attention by appearing at the Woodstock festival in 1969. The Latin influence has always been an important part in their music, although the band also created some blues rock and pop classics. Even after all those years Santana is still actively performing. - GATEFOLD
2014 limited 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl LP pressing Anniversary Edition reissue of the 1979 album in a gatefold sleeve featuring the original album cover design, plus the inner sleeve artwork. This classic rocker Marathon would go on to yield a plethora of hit tracks at all formats of radio including "You Know That I Love You', the powerful "Hard Times", the soulful "Summer Lady" & their rock hit "All I Ever Wanted". This was the first Santana LP to feature the vocals of longtime front man Alex Ligertwood and keyboard legend Alan Pasqua. As one of the most enduring albums in their massive career catalog, Santana's Marathon included some significant album tracks too like the rocking masterpiece" Lightning in the Sky" and the powerful medley of "Stand Up/Running".
