Songs Of Innocence (Ltd. Deluxe Edt.)

One thing is absolutely clear to me - the Irish from U2 did not manage to surpass even their previous release. This does not mean at all that the new disc is completely devoid of strong moments; they exist and they deserve the highest praise. It's about contrasts. And this is not about the contrasts that have twice made a strongly positive impression on me while listening to Songs Of Innocence. These are the contrasts between the strengths and weaknesses of the disc. A sluggish beginning and an unimportant ending are the saddest attributes of U2's new work. All the best, namely the tracks Song for Someone, Iris (Hold me Close) and Volcano, were hidden in the middle of the album. Cedarwood Road and This is Where You Can Reach Me Now may also seem interesting, but they do not save Songs Of Innocence. What would probably have saved the disc is the replacement of one of the three boring introductory tracks with the already familiar single Invisible.
