"The Giant" is a critically acclaimed album by the German funeral doom metal band Ahab, released in CD format by Napalm Records. Inspired by Herman Melville's classic novel "Moby Dick," this concept album takes listeners on an epic journey through crushing riffs, atmospheric soundscapes, and haunting vocals that perfectly capture the vastness and melancholy of the sea. The band's meticulous songwriting and immersive arrangements have earned them praise within the global doom metal community. Ahab has established themselves as pioneers of nautical-themed doom metal since their formation in 2004, with previous albums like "The Call of the Wretched Sea" receiving international recognition for their unique blend of heaviness and melody. Vladislav M. - 02/Jun/2020 5 of 5 Stars!
This album shares an honorable first place along with a debut in Ahab's list of my favorite albums. Epic, conceptual and monumental musical creation for more than 70 minutes. The impression of listening is like watching a full-length movie.
