Igor G. - 28/May/2020 4 of 5 Stars!
LEBANON is an Israeli 4-piece instrumental rock-band from Tel-Aviv, and “Planet Rubble” is their second and final to date album. It was recorded in the United States in 2006, and released next year in cooperation of the US based record-label Australian Cattle God and Fast Music Records from Israel. The album features 10 all instrumental tracks (though vocal duties are attributed in the booklet to one of the guitarists and bassist) clocking in at almost 55 minutes. The music is quite competent math-rock in the classic mid 90’s manner – tricky time signatures, ripped out dynamics, explosive and flashy drumming, filigree twin guitar vertigos, a bit of riff heaviness and spaced-out ambiances. At their best tunes, such as “Joan Of Arc”, the boys demonstrate a really good melodic taste, as well as the ability to deviate between passages of pastoral beauty and dadaistic chaos. Overall, nice album for lovers of instrumental Math-Rock.
