Description:	An Heiligabend wird in einer norditalienischen Stadt ein Radfahrer von einen SUV angefahren. Dieser Unfall dient als Anlass, die Lebensgeschichte der Angehörigen zweier Familien zu erzählen. Die Bernaschis, Giovanni (Fabrizio Gifuni), seine Frau Carla (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) und ihr Sohn Massimiliano (Guglielmo Pinelli), führen ein luxuriöses Leben, welches sie Finanzspekulationen verdanken. Dino Ossola (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) hingegen, ein ebenso ambitionierter wie erfolgloser Immobilienmakler, stemmt sich gegen den Bankrott, während seine Frau Roberta (Valeria Golino) mit Zwillingen schwanger ist.
