However, an obsessive and vengeful stalker lurks in the shadows of their romantic relationship. Though the film is considered a cult-favorite exploitation flick, critics praised the film's sympathetic and sensitive depiction of the two lead characters and their relationship. "It develops a relationship between a 28-year-old woman and an 18-year-old high school boy with sensitivity and credibility unusual for an exploitation film.
