Description:New World Suite by I. Waghalter, released 22 April 2015. This version of New World Suite comes as a 1xCD. - NEW RUSSIA STATE S.O./ALEXANDER WALKER
Appointed conductor in 1912 at the newly founded Deutsches Opernhaus in Berlin, it was there where Ignatz Waghalter's youthful comic opera Mandragola received it's first performance, winning him huge acclaim: it's Overture and Intermezzo reveal his orchestral mastery. Waghalter left Europe for America in the 1930s, where he came to strongly identify with the Afro-American cause. The New World Suite's ten short, richly melodic movements illustrate his constant desire to write approachable and lively music. Vol. 1 in this series [8.572809] was an ICMA (Int'l Classical Music Awards) nominee.
Recorded in Studio 5, Russian State TV & Radio Company KULTURA, Moscow, from 14th to 17th November, 2013. Publishers: Schott (tracks 1-2), Boosey (tracks 3-12) (p) & (c) 2015 Naxos Rights US, Inc.
