Description:Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Duke saw Genesis start, somewhat unwillingly, to shed their progressive rock mantle. Partly this was a response to the radically changing musical scene, partly a result of Phil Collins's new-found influence within the band as a songwriter, and partly it was a logical direction if they were to capitalize upon the success of "Follow You Follow Me" from 1978's And Then There Were Three. Recorded at Abba's Polar Studios in Stockholm, Duke showcased a more commercial sound, brisker arrangements, and more down-to-earth lyrics. Though Tony Banks was still responsible for the majority of the songwriting, turning in the classic "Duchess" and "Heathaze," the album also contains Collins's first two solo compositions, including "Misunderstanding," a template for the songs of his forthcoming solo career. In contrast to the relatively muddy-sounding And Then There Were Three, Duke is clear and sharp, with Collins's increasingly arena-friendly drum sound showcased in the mix., Runningtime: 00:00:00, Art Direction: Bill Smith (19), Bass, Guitar, Backing Vocals: Mike Rutherford, Cover: Lionel Koechlin, Drums, Vocals, Electronic Drums, Whistle [Duck]: Phil Collins, Keyboards, Backing Vocals, Guitar [12 String], Whistle [Duck]: Tony Banks, Lacquer Cut By: Miles Showell, Mastered By: Ray Staff, Producer: Genesis, Producer [Assistant]: David Bascombe, Producer, Engineer, Backing Vocals: David Hentschel, Written-By: Mike Rutherford, Written-By: Phil Collins, Written-By: Tony Banks, Written-By: Mike Rutherford, Written-By: Phil Collins, Written-By: Tony Banks, Written-By: Tony Banks, Written-By: Mike Rutherford, Written-By: Phil Collins, Written-By: Tony Banks, Written-By: Mike Rutherford, Written-By: Phil Collins, Written-By: Tony Banks, Written-By: Mike Rutherford, Written-By: Tony Banks, Written-By: Phil Collins, Written-By: Mike Rutherford, Written-By: Phil Collins, Written-By: Tony Banks, Written-By: Mike Rutherford, Written-By: Phil Collins, Written-By: Tony Banks, Labelcode ATL188412.1 (R1 188412, R1 188412), Recorded At Polar Studios, Mixed At Maison Rouge, Mastered At Trident Studios, Remastered At Metropolis Mastering, Manufactured By Rhino Entertainment Company, Marketed By Rhino Entertainment Company, Licensed To Rhino Entertainment Company, Lacquer Cut At Metropolis Mastering, Pressed By Optimal Media GmbH, Phonographic Copyright (p) Craft Recordings, Copyright (c) Craft Recordings

1980 saw the release of the tenth studio record by Genesis, entitled "Duke." This record may be the greatest achievement the band ever committed with Phil Collins as lead vocalist.
