Descripción:	Der Sikh Umber Singh, der durch die Teilung Indiens 1947 alles verliert und zum Verlassen seiner Heimat gezwungen wird, ist davon besessen, einen Sohn als Erben zu haben. Als seine vierte Tochter geboren wird, nimmt er den Kampf gegen das Schicksal auf. Er gibt ihr den Namen Kanwar (junger Prinz) und erzieht sie im Glauben ein Mann zu sein. Als der Sikh die Hochzeit zwischen seinem falschen Sohn, und Neeli, einem Mädchen von niederer Kaste, arrangiert, wird die gesamte Familie mit der Wahrheit ihrer eigenen Identitäten konfrontiert.
